The Star Bunkhouse in the village of Bwlch is an ideal base from which to explore the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park.

The bunkhouse is situated alongside The Beacons Way long-distance footpath in the gap (‘bwlch’) between the Black Mountains and the Central Beacons mountain range (which includes Pen Y Fan).

Llangorse & Bwlch

Llangorse has the largest natural lake in south Wales. It boasts an ancient Crannog and is a perfect location to mess about in boats, take a gentle stroll or watch the bird life.

Bwlch has castles, ancient iron age forts and standing stones, not to mention 360 degree views across the lake. pushed and scraped its way along, shaping the landscape that we see today.

Outdoor Adventure Activities

There are a wide range of adventure activities In the area such as Rock Climbing, Caving, Open Canoeing, Kayaking, Gorge Walking, White Water Rafting, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Archery, High Level Ropes, Raft Building, Land Carting, Abseiling, Orienteering, Paintballing, Mountain biking and even Canoe and Bike Hire.

Walking

There are many walks in the area, for those that are interested in a leisurely stroll and those that are more adventurous.

There are approximately 100km of public rights of way in Brecon, 23km of these lay within the Brecon Beacons National Park.

This is a beautiful part of Wales, with traditional market towns, stunning landscapes, canal paths, castles and plenty of outdoors activities and family attractions. The scenery here is both beautiful and diverse - rolling countryside and valleys, wide open spaces to the wild beauty of the waterfalls and caves.
